Foreign language education system in Latvia
When we talk about education systems in Japan and Latvia, which is located in the Northern part of the Europe and is part of the E.U., there are a few interesting points that differ and are worth mentioning.
In the European countries children are exposed to foreign languages due to cartoons in English that during my childhood were broadcast on American and British TV channels and now more usually can be watched via online services like Youtube or Netflix. Therefore before children come to school at 6 years old with already basic or subconscious knowledge of English that they have learned off listening and repeating the sounds that are combined with actions in the cartoons.
The foreign language education up until the beginning of Junior high school is quite similar to how we do it in Japan. However, when the time comes for Junior high school, the children are asked to perform quite a lot of creative tasks like a presentation on the sports that they like or a movie that they like. After listening to a presentation, the students are asked to prepare questions for the presenter - that way all of the class is engaged in thinking continuously in English.
We can sum up these points in 2 simple advices - 1) don’t be afraid to expose yourself to films and cartoons that are not translated to Japanese, your brain is built in very complex and great ways that will allow you to absorb the language automatically. 2) Always imagine a question when you are listening to others do a presentation or speak, it is a great way to learn.

日本とラトビア（ヨーロッパの北部に位置し、EUの一部である国）の教育システムについて話しますと、異なる興味深い点がいくつかあり言及する価値があります。
ヨーロッパの国々では、子供の頃アメリカやイギリスのテレビ番組で放送された英語での漫画を見るために、子供たちは外国語にさらされていて、現在ではYoutubeやNetflixなどのオンラインサービスでそのような番組をよく見ることができます。ですので、子どもたちが6歳で学校に入学する前に、漫画のアクションと組み合わさった英語音を繰り返し聞いているので、英語の基本や潜在意識化された知識をすでに持っているのです。
小学校での外国語教育については、日本でやっていることとよく似ています。しかし、中学生になると、自分の好きなスポーツや好きな映画についての発表など非常に多くの創造的な課題をするように求められます。そして、発表を聞いた後、生徒たちは発表者に質問し、すべての授業が英語で継続的に考えさせる内容です。
これらのポイントを2つの簡単なアドバイスにまとめますと、1）日本語に翻訳されていない映画や漫画を見ることに恐れないでください。脳は非常に複雑で、かつ素晴らしい方法で自動的に言語を吸収できるからです。2）他の人が発表したり話を聞いいたりするときは、常に質問を想像してください。それは学ぶための素晴らしい方法になるからです。
